About the project

The role of higher education as a source of social criticism and critical thinking has led to a significant increase in attacks on student activists in particular. The Students at Risk programme is a response to this growing need for support for higher education students who are human rights defenders, regardless of their field of study or nationality.

The project is motivated by solidarity with university students fighting for human rights. Through this project, we are promoting the conditions for the student movement internationally to act for democracy, human rights, academic freedom and students’ rights.

The project is managed by Students at Risk Finland – StaR ry.
